Should You Purchase Organizing Items?

I usually believe purchasing items is unnecessary for organizing your pantry, closet, or drawers. We often buy bins and baskets, particularly before decluttering, only to discover that it is a waste of both time and money, leading to additional items cluttering our homes. I've made similar purchases, only to find out I didn’t need them.

So, do you need to purchase that thing to organize your home? Maybe. Here are a few reasons why you may need to buy an item or two.

If the item improves the function of your space, then purchase the item! For example, a Lazy Susan can improve the function of the pantry, especially in a corner or in a taller cabinet. It provides better access to your items and keeps them from falling over or becoming cluttered. If the item saves you space in your home, then buy it! Oftentimes, we have closets, cabinets, or drawers that are small, narrow, or awkward, and purchasing a container to decant items into or store in saves space and improves storage, especially if the containers stack.

Here are a few tips before purchasing and organizing items: Always declutter first! If you declutter before buying products, you might not need to purchase anything at all. And that’s great! Don’t spend money when you don’t need to! Decluttering also lets you assess what you have and how much space you have now if you need to purchase something. If you need to buy a few things, measure your space first to ensure that what you’re buying fits.

So purchase items if they improve the function and space of your home; otherwise, keep your money in your wallet.
